10 -day route to visit Italy: Florence, Venice and Rome

When you plan a vacation in Italy, it is tempting to want to see and do everything. It is very easy to plan your trip too much, especially on a tight delay as a 10 -day visit.

To really enter Dolce VitaIt is best to limit yourself to a few towns or villages and take your time in each. Delays and unforeseen events (as well as these current tourist errors) can derail even the best planned schedules and cause stress, which is the opposite of what your vacation should be.

If you plan to be in Italy for 10 days and want to see the best cities that the country has to offer, while allowing time to enjoy spontaneous events and relax, follow this route. This calendar guides you through the greatest successes of Rome, Florence and Venice for an unforgettable and affordable vacation.

In another article, we offer advice to explore Italy by car, including small villages and cities. However, for this trip, we enter the three major cities in the country, so we will travel by train at high speed.

Day 1: Arrival in Rome

Fly in Rome, take the airport train and spend the afternoon and evening to relax.

Take a quiet walk in the district of your hotel (we recommend that you stay in one of these low-budget hotels with central locations) and to deliver to your first Italian meal. Roman cuisine is unique to the rest of Italy, so ask your concierge or your host its recommendations on the best tomato and bacon Or Black cheese and pepper in the neighborhood. If you are near the Spanish stages, you can try one of these restaurants.

Days 2 and 3: Explore Florence

You will see everything Rome has to offer soon, but today we will take a train for Florence, about two hours from Rome Termini station. Book these tickets well in advance for the lowest prices (from € 17!) Directly from Trenitalia, the National Railway. (By the way, do not be confused if you type “Florence” in research and nothing appears. You must look for “Roma” for “Firenze”. Another note: if the Trenitalia website appears to be unavailable for your region, you can book the same tickets at the same prices, more costs of € 3.50, via Italiarail.

Florence, the heart of Tuscany, is also one of the most beautiful and culturally important cities in the country. Arrive in the early afternoon and, after having recorded your hotel, spend the rest of the day for a walk in the famous basilica (the “Duomo”) and climbing to the top. You will be hungry after the walk, and in Florence, be sure to eat a panini or the famous dish, Steak At Fiorentina! (Read more articles on consumption for Florence cheap.)

After a tasty breakfast, spend the day exploring Florence, whom you want to visit the David sculpture of Michelangelo in the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, pore on art in the Uffizi gallery, or buy articles in hand and memories made by hand.

Day 4 and 5: Walk in Venice

Head to Venice by train from Florence, a journey that takes about two hours. Again, book these tickets in advance via Trenitalia (and search for “Venezia”).

Once in Venice, you can immerse yourself in the romance of the canals and the beauty of the blown glass by hand. Venice is known for its seafood, so enjoy and feast on Octopus and Calamari. On your Second day in VeniceStart your day in a delicious Venetian bakery, then prepare for an unforgettable walk. From Piazza San Marco (where each building transforms a beautiful shade of pink during sunset), at the Palais de Doge and the brilliant Basilica of Saint Mark, there is a lot to do.

Of course, one of the best things to do in Venice is to sip a glass of wine while watching the gondolas slide. You can also jump on a ferry, if a gondola driving is too expensive to snack. (It’s for ours!)

Days 6 – 8: a Roman party

Today, you will return to Rome by train, passing by Hill Country and several castles along the way. There are only three hours left on the high -speed train from Venice, but the trip takes much more time on a regional train. (If reserved in advance, the fast train will probably be about the same price as the slow!)

Once recorded, stroll through the city. The piazzas are animated until late in the evening, and the city sparkles at night. If you have time, visit the Trevi fountain by Moonlight.

Plan what you want to see in Rome and divide it on the next day. A visit to the Vatican will take about half a day, as is a tour of the Colosseum and the Roman forum.

But give yourself at least one day to explore Rome far from the big sites. Explore the outdoor markets, shopping for Italian fashion, relax in one of the many gardens and parks in Rome, and stroll through the paved side streets of the city!

Day 9 – A day trip

If you are in love with Rome, go ahead and spend another day check more attractions from your wishes list.

If you are ready for something new, there are several excursions of a fun day easily accessible from Rome. Whether you want to enjoy a little sun on the neighboring beaches, the villages on the hill of Castelli Romani, or the ruins of Ostia Antica (one of the best kept secrets in all of Italy), getting out of the city is worth seeing another side of Italy before leaving. Most trains go away from the Termini station.

Day 10 – AReviseerci Italy

Take a last cappuccino and Cornetto for breakfast and you left! Of course, your 10 -day memories in Beautiful Italy will last a lifetime.
