7 really cool activities to do before giving birth

Medical consultations, paperwork: what if we forgot these pre-deposit imperatives for a time to focus on yourself? We have drawn up a list of rejuvenating activities to offer ourselves … or be offered.

Pregnancy is full of contradictions: we try to savor this unique period and take advantage of this little being who grows up in us, but we keep running after time to best prepare for his arrival. Medical meeting (gynecological consultations, blood tests, tests, etc.), list and birth suitcase, passage to the mutual, the town … A race against the clock which can give the impression of flying over our pregnancy or living it via the prism of the to-do list.

And yet, prenatal midwives and accompanists are unanimous: a mother who agrees during her pregnancy is more likely to live a serene postpartum.

Becoming a mother is an upheaval. To live it as well as possible, don’t forget to meet your personal needs.

Sophie Litt, birth guide, confirms this to us: “Becoming a mother is an upheaval in all our roles of women … and living this change as best as possible.

While waiting for baby: 7 great missions

Offering yourself a moment to yourself or with resource people is a gift that will allow you to disconnect everyday to return to you.

1. get a massage

Massage helps relieve bodily pain: back and hips, traffic problems … but it is also a moment of relaxation that allows you to become aware of your body. A body which, as pregnancy evolves, seems to belong to us less and less. A word of advice, if you can: program several massages on the 3 quarters that are announced.

2. Organize a “wound Way”

If the baby-show has been fashionable for several years, it is now dethroned by the “wound Way”: an organized party not to celebrate the baby, but the mother, who will be surrounded by “women of her life”. A true rite of passage, the principle – which has its origins of an Indian tribe – consists in honoring the sacred feminine.

On the program, for example:

  • Made of a pot with positive messages that the mother can read in the event of a drop in morale during her postpartum
  • Sharing experiences around maternity
  • Wishes for mom and baby
  • Care, meditation
  • Making necklaces, flower crowns
  • Proposal for support after childbirth (homemade meal to freeze, cleaning, baby guard and/or elders …)
  • Oracle print for those who wish

Or any other activity that will allow the future mother to feel loved, supported and surrounded.

3. Take a picture

The woman’s body is in total upheaval during pregnancy: the belly is rounded, the breasts take volume, the nature of the hair and the skin change … which can seduce some and disarray others. In one case as in the other, you could offer yourself a photo shoot that will honor your femininity, in all its states.

In French -speaking Belgium, some maternity specialist photographers offer intimate, soft and benevolent sessions. They take place in your home, most often. Underwear, body, kimono, jeans: you wear whatever you want. A real self -confidence shoot!

4.

We can never repeat it enough: alcohol consumption is dangerous for the fetus, but that does not mean that it is forbidden to have an aperitif with friends! Program fun moments, go out, dinner, to a show … while ordering a mocktail.

5. Get help for cleaning

Taking a housekeeper will allow you to have more time to think of you during pregnancy, and then postpartum. Know that as an independent, in Belgium, you are entitled to aid for maternity. Ask your mutuality, the amount is interesting!

6. Take a precious gift

Becoming a parent is synonymous with additional expenses: layers, crèche and the purchase of childcare equipment have the annoying tendency to explode the budget. A good reason to offer you what you want for a long time: a nice gem, the bag of your dreams, a pair of sunglasses … Make this beautiful gift before the big landing.

7. Leaving a “baby moon”

Going on a last time on a romantic vacation before the arrival of baby is a concept from across the Atlantic, called “Baby Moon” (inspired by “Honey Moon” or honeymoon). And the least we can say is that the Americans have understood everything, since this romantic trip aims to recharge their batteries and focus on oneself and your couple. A good thing to do so: put a few days off and book a stay in a nice place, even near you.
