Réginald le Vaillant (Pascal Demolon), a very busy notary, lives in Paris and is sorry for the decline in commitment, the loss of family values of its customers. Like a character from Balzac, he defines his function: ” My job: protect the living, link the living and the dead. “”
What concerns Réginald is his Château XIXe and the cost of catering sites: restoration of roofing, the Courtine … The castle in question is good figure and part of the film scenes take place in its park and its salons. Réginald would like him to be classified and start steps with the DRAC.
The wife Blandine Le Vaillant (Herrade von Meier) has a completely different concern, the future son -in -law does not stick to the religious education of his daughter, the beautiful Athenaïs (Romane de Stabenrath). The family is a practicing Catholic. In fact Réginald has found arrangements. He practices only for semblance and it is above all the fate of his castle which obsesses his thoughts.
The meeting with a dying countess (Evelyne Buyle) gives him the wacky idea of having her daughter marry the godsse of the countess. She wants to bequeath her fortune to Arthur Chambourcy (Jean-Baptiste Lafarge) on the only condition that he has faith.
To a thousand places to suspect the legacy that awaits him, the young artist painted from the female nudes. And as soon as Arthur crosses Athenaïs, he wants to make one of his models. She is very in love with Eliott Moulard (François-David Cardonnel) but as an “bad manners”, he is rejected by her parents, especially by the mother who finds him vulgar. He did the ENA, speaks politics and business.
Quiproquos get involved and it is the shock of cultures, when the parents of lovers meet and share a dinner that runs in the game of massacre.
This film with a neat image offers moments of laughter, amusements, sarcasm. And at the same time, what bothers is the religious dimension that leads the script and the intention of the film. Philippe Duquesne as a notary colleague succeeds very well his interpretation. The roles of the countess, the architect of historic monuments are not credible in the proposed scenes. We would dream in the practicing Catholic mother an anemone, a side of letting go of the film rather than a predefined orientation.
