Slightly abrasive, deodorant, degreaser, repellent, fertilizer: coffee grounds have more than one trick up their sleeve. Instead of throwing it away, transform it into a cleaning product for the house and garden or even into a beauty product.
1. Polish a piece of furniture
If you want to remove a scratch on one of your pieces of furniture, marc can help you polish it. How to do it? Add a little lukewarm water and vinegar to make a paste. Then place the mixture on the scratch, rub, then leave for five to ten minutes before removing it with a soft damp cloth.
Coffee grounds can also be used to stain wood. Dilute ten tablespoons of grounds in boiling water and let heat for ten minutes. Filter then apply the liquid using a brush or sponge to the furniture.
2. Deodorize the fridge
If your refrigerator or freezer has a bad smell, simply place a bowl filled with your leftover coffee inside your appliance. Leave it on for a few hours, or even overnight, before removing the bowl. The smell will be gone!
3. Clean the cooking plates
Coffee grounds are slightly abrasive and degreasing. It can be used as a classic cleaning product to clean all types of hobs, but also dirty dishes and casserole dishes.
4. Maintain the pipes
To prevent your sink from clogging, regularly pour a little coffee grounds into it, mixed with boiling water. This mixture dissolves grease residues and prevents bad odors from settling in the pipes.
Please note, this technique is not recommended for septic tanks: it can harm the proper functioning of the device.
5. Exfoliate your skin
Massage your skin in the shower with coffee grounds, you will be impressed with the result! It leaves the skin smooth, soft and hydrated. For a more elaborate treatment, you can also mix it with olive oil, honey and lemon juice.
