BANG !!! is a pop-up store that brings together an art gallery and a thrift store, opened at the initiative of Natti Angles. Blanche Richard-Chaffin joined this project which aims to democratize art and fashion by promoting artists. Coming from cinema production and cinema animation, Blanche Richard-Chaffin has also participated in and produced shows. She creates artistic collaborations with people whose worlds and artistic proposals she appreciates.
In the Gallery’s first space dedicated to screen prints, Gala PRZ, jewelry and design creator, reinvents Demoiselles – which can be found in some of her motifs printed on second-hand clothing, at the Friperie. Fabienne, passionate about drawings and who often works with leather, exhibits more figurative works. Léon, the youngest of the artists, presents his first creations and success is already there. In the second part, established artists from the Montpellier and French scene are exhibited such as Hervé di Rosa, Mist, Salamech…
In the basement, the Friperie supported by the Mauve.Club association offers many pieces from the young brand A little. Another project in preparation: workshops with Mayalène Le Hen. This film and television costume designer launched her micro-business Rose and Nettle to do upcycling – sorting of wardrobes – and image consulting.
Fatma Alilate: With Simon Elliott – the DJ Geek-Mo – you form a duo full of energy, smiling and welcoming in this pop-up store that is both Gallery and Thrift Store.
Blanche Richard Chaffin : Natti Angles isn’t there, but she has crazy energy too. And so we are very happy to have met on this project. I arrived a little later, she initiated this idea. She set up this shop selling screen prints and original works of art. BANG !!! is a pop-up boutique-gallery. In the first room, the screen prints come from Maison Anagraphis, which is established in the region and has been recognized for quite a few years. Three artists are highlighted. Gala PRZ who remade pieces of clothing using organic ink prints; it is present through its screen prints and clothing. She made the little cat furniture. Fabienne is from a slightly more realistic universe with much finer lines. And Léon is a young artist of 22 years old, these are his first works for sale. The punching bag was tagged by him. He works with squeezer and posca and it works very well. He is very happy. And I will organize events like DJ sets, exhibitions, etc. It’s the Mauve.Club part which is downstairs with the Friperie and the Pan part!!! is at the top. We help each other to keep it all alive a little bit. We had a great opening night. We had invited a lot of people. There were the artists, they did some Live painting. It made Anagraphis and the artists on the floor known. At the same time, I started the Mauve.Club association which is led to develop other collaborations with artists, not necessarily just for clothing.

FA: For the exhibition space, there are a lot of colors, it’s very cheerful, and it’s different worlds each time, and yet, it seems like they respond to each other.
BRC : Yes, it was very good organization on the part of Natti Angles. She worked a lot for Anagraphis. She knows this screen printing house and the artists very well. And she has chosen to promote personalities that she likes and subjectively also works that please her, that touch her.
FA: We recognize certain works, Salamech.
BRC: Yes, we have artists from Montpellier. There is Mara, Diego Mènendes, Bella Bah, Louis Picard, Hervé di Rosa…
FA: It’s great for artists from here and elsewhere to have a new exhibition space.
BRC : Exactly, and then we try to organize events so that they come, so that they can invite their loved ones, so that here it can be seen a little bit by people who are not necessarily familiar with these works. People come in and discover the worlds of these artists, so it’s very interesting. The idea was to put art within the reach of everyone, and clothing within the reach of anyone since the prices are very low. It’s for all budgets, for all visual styles. With Natti, we want to democratize our areas of expertise and activities.

FA: Is second-hand clothing a passion for you?
BRC : I have been shopping for a very, very long time, alongside my studies. I also come from a cultural background, I did a lot of production, I worked in cinema, I did management, costumes, casting. But then, I wanted to create something for myself. I developed a network of artist friends who do things in very different fields. The idea with the Mauve.Club association is to be able to bring together people who do not have the same universe on new projects. I just give a framework, possibly the initial idea, and people bring their know-how, their skills, and above all their individual worlds.
FA: You have a few events planned until February 23.
BRC : We had a great opening night on December 17th. On January 10, we are going to have an evening for the raffle prize ceremony. And once a week, I’m going to have a little evening with DJ Set, an artist will possibly come and do flash tattooing. It will be someone different each time with a theme. We’re going to invite people. We will also have a party at the end of the store. Simon prepares DJ sets for immersive atmospheres.
